You can help!

If you are here, this means that perhaps you own a device and/or an iOS version that is not yet supported correctly by iEmpty.

Indeed, I can't have all the needed informations (icons positions) for all devices ans all iOS versions on the market. First because I don't own personnally all the Apple's devices! Then because after some iOS updates icons positions can change a little, and so I need to update iEmpty to make it work with the new iOS version.

The good news is that you can help me to improve iEmpty!

I need that you send me some screenshots of all devices you own with the unsupported iOS version, so I can measure precisely the icons positions.

Please follow the procedure below for EACH device you own.

Procedure (for a device)

STEP 1 // INFORMATIONS

Check and note your EXACT device model and your EXACT iOS version.

See: Settings app > General > About > Model Name & Software Version

* * *
STEP 2 // PREREQUISITES

Ensure that you turned OFF the « perspective mode », so the « parallax effect » that makes the icons move on the homescreen when you move your device will be disabled.

See: Settings app > General > Accessibility > Reduce motion > On

* * *
STEP 3 // ICONS

Put application icons EVERYWHERE on the homscreen grid (one icon on EACH column and EACH row, including the dock).

This way I can measure precisely EACH possible icon position on the homescreen grid.

* * *
STEP 4 // SCREENSHOTS

Please take screenshots of your homescreen for all possible orientations, layouts and options available for your device.

> How-to take a screenshot?

*
4.1/ Standard View

If your device is compatible, put your homescreen in « Standard View ».

See: Settings app > Display & Brightness > DISPLAY ZOOM > View > Standard

Take 2 screenshots, one for EACH home screen orientation: portrait and landscape.

*
4.2/ Zoomed View

If your device is compatible, put your homescreen in « Zoomed View ».

See: Settings app > Display & Brightness > DISPLAY ZOOM > View > Zoomed

Take 2 more screenshots, one for EACH home screen orientation: portrait and landscape.

*
4.3/ iPadOS special

If your have an iPad running iPadOS (iOS 13+ on a compatible iPad), this is different and you'll need to take 5 screenshots, one for each possible orientation/layout combination.

-

A/ Select « Bigger Layout » for your home screen.

See: Settings app > Display & Brightness > HOME SCREEN LAYOUT > Bigger

Take 2 screenshots, one for EACH home screen orientation: portrait and landscape.

-

B/ Select « More Layout » for your home screen.

See: Settings app > Display & Brightness > HOME SCREEN LAYOUT > More

Take 2 more screenshots, one for EACH home screen orientation: portrait and landscape.

-

C/ Display the « Today View » on your home screen (widget area on the left side)

Take 1 last screenshot, in landscape orientation.

* * *
STEP 5 // SEND

Send me ALL the screenshots taken above, in their original FULL size (without any resize or modification).

You can send them by email or upload them on a file sharing system like Dropbox or Google Drive.

* * *

Notes: If your device supports both landscape orientation and zoomed view, you'll have 4 screenshots to send. If your device is an iPad running iPadOS, you'll have 5 screenshots to send.
