You can help!

Icons and widgets positions can change over time when a new device or iOS version is released.

That's life! 🤷

If you think that your device is not correctly supported, you can send me some data so I can update iEmpty for it.

For that, you'll have to send me several screenshots of your home screen with app icons and widgets everywhere on it, so I can measure precisely their positions.

Ready to help?

Read and follow CAREFULLY EACH procedure below:

⚠ IMPORTANT informations

Please DO NOT send me data if everything works fine! 🙏🏻

Do it ONLY if your device is not supported or if you have misaligned icons problems.

Informations

Send me your EXACT device model and iOS version.

Settings > General > About

Prerequisites

Ensure that you fit the prerequisites, especially that you turned OFF the « perspective mode ».

Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce motion > On

> Check all the prerequisites

Screenshots resolution

Send me ALL the screenshots you take by email, in their original FULL size (WITHOUT ANY resize or modification).

If it is too big to attach them in the email, send a link to a file sharing system like iCloud Drive or Google Drive, or use the iOS Mail Drop feature.

Email contact

Contact me by email, from your iOS device to update, using the « Send email » button above.

This way I'll have some technical « geeky details » on the email, that will help me for the update.

Thank you credits?

If you want, you can also send me your Twitter username so I can mention you for your help.

Something like: @tooliphone

Procedure for ICONS

Put application icons EVERYWHERE on the homescreen grid (one icon on EACH column and EACH row, including the dock).

This way I can measure precisely EACH possible icon position on the homescreen grid.

Take several screenshots of your homescreen, one for each possible orientations and layouts available for your device (details below).

For iPhone & iPod Touch

Depending you device and iOS version, some options will be available or not.

For iPad (iPadOS 15+)

Starting with iPadOS 15, iPad homescreens changed their icons layout:

  • They can use a 6x5 / 5x6 layout (when ONLY icons on the homescreen page)
  • They can use a 6x4 / 4x6 layout (when AT LEAST one widget on the homescreen page)
  • They can also for each layout display 'big' or 'small' icons

8 screenshots to send me

Procedure for WIDGETS

Put iOS small widgets EVERYWHERE on the homescreen grid (one 'small' widget on EACH column and EACH row).

This way I can measure precisely EACH possible small widget position on the homescreen grid, and guess the informations for other widgets sizes.

Take several screenshots of your homescreen, one for each possible orientations and layouts available for your device (details below).

For iPhone & iPod Touch

Depending you device and iOS version, some options will be available or not.

  • Other widgets positions CAN be guessed from small widgets positions. 👍
  • There are 3 widgets sizes: 'small', 'medium', 'large'.

For iPad (iPadOS 15+)

Starting with iPadOS 15, widgets are now allowed on the homescreen...

But this is a REAL PAIN to manage!!

  • Other widgets positions CAN'T be guessed from small widgets positions. 👎
  • There are 4 widgets sizes: 'small', 'medium', 'large' and the new 'extra large'.
  • Widgets positions can change depending on if you set 'big' or 'small' icons from Settings.

At least 16 screenshots to send me 😲
